Test Monday - C period, Tuesday - D period

On Monday for C period ( or Tuesday for D period), you will have a test on populations, the dandelion lab and inter- & intra-specific interactions.

You can find the interactions between species PowerPoint here (the objectives for community interactions are the statements in the packet where you took notes on biotic and abiotic factors --yes you need to know that).

You will have 55 minutes for your test.  If you have extended time, please come to consult to start your test early.  At 11:40 you will have a five minute break and at 11:45 we will continue to use the rest of the double period.  Yes, really.

Test on Wednesday October 24th

This is just a reminder that on Wednesday Oct 24th, you will have a test on osmosis, diffusion, cellular respiration and photosynthesis.

You are not responsible for knowing the intermediaries in the Calvin Cycle (photosynthesis) nor in the Krebs / Citric Acid Cycle (cellular respiration).

We will wrap up cellular respiration and photosynthesis tomorrow.

Test Review

Today students created their own jeopardy review questions on the DNA structure and replication, as well as transcription and translation.  We used the mini whiteboards for each pair to write their answers down.    Next week we will begin learning about evolution. Classical Genetics & Meiosis Test

Today both classes had a test on classical genetics and meiosis.  Tomorrow we will be extracting DNA from strawberries.  This can be a bit messy and the strawberry juice will stain your clothes, so it's best to to wear clothes can get dirty.

Test Corrections Due Monday

On Monday your test corrections are due. What does this mean?

You need to rewrite each question you got wrong AND write the correct answer.

For example if you got Question #6 wrong, you would write:

#6. When a protein becomes denatured it changes from the _____ structure to the _____ structure.

d. tertiary to primary.

The more questions you got wrong, the more work you have to do.

Test Today

Today students had a test on Chapter 2. Some people did really well, other people not so much. Tomorrow we will be starting a new unit on cells with Chapter 7.

There is no homework tonight.

Test on Tuesday

For your test on Tuesday you are responsible for all of chapter 2. You should also review the handout on enzymes, as this information is not in your book. The test will have multiple choice questions, true/false and open response questions. Approximately 80% of the points will be for questions from chapter 2 and the other 20% of points will relate to the lab work you have done so far.
